An American Family, Its Offical

I have waited a while to do a post about this because, I was a little embarrassed of the story. In March my lovely husband (can you call your hubs lovely?) turned the big, huge, old age of 24! We had the pet discussion a while back and decided that we would get the kids a puppy for Christmas (of 2011) and maybe get a kitten this summer. I tried to be the "coolest wife" and get him a kitten for his birthday. I searched everywhere for one, and there were a few to adopt but not as young as I wanted, and I felt better about rescuing one that would more then likely be euthanized. Apparently there is a "kitten season", who knew? Kitten season starts around April I think. I ended up going with my mom to the B.A. Animal Shelter to check out the felion situation there. Just 3 huge cats in huge cages because they were that mean. Have you ever seen the movie Mouse Hunt? In the movie they buy a cat to try to get rid of a mouse. When they bring the cat home it sits in this hug wooden crate, you can hear it breathing really heavy with smoke and dust coming from it. All you can see of the cat is its huge mean eyes. That's what all of these cats looked like. Scary.

Of course, being a dog person, we had to go look at the dogs. I wanted to take every single one of them home and tie huge red handkerchiefs around all of their necks and love them to pieces. :(  With two small children at home, I could not. The first cage had 2 puppies in it, one about 6 weeks and one about 12 weeks. The 6 week old looked so helpless and tired while the 12 week old jumped around like its rear was on fire. The vet at the pound said that the 6 week old was a lab/Rottweiler mix. A good mix if you ask me.
I took the youngest pup home with me. I was in love and I was almost sure my hub would be too.
When I got home Lee was so happy and so shocked. He was in love, maybe too much. So we had ourselves a puppy now.

I took her to the vet the following Monday to make sure she was healthy. As the vet started her check up this is the conversation we had...
Vet: "Now what kind of dog did you say this was?"
Me: "The vet at the pound told me it was a lab/rott mix"
Vet: "Ha, this look like a long haired dachshund"
Me: ".............I beg your pardon?...."
I could not believe it. I love all animals, big, small, whatever. BUT, we are BIG dog people. We like huge dogs that you can snuggle with or have them pull you in a sleigh (whichever). No offense to anyone out there when I say this but, I DO NOT like small dogs enough to own one and I certainly did not have a wiener dog in my sights for our family dog. My husbands dream of having a dog to go running with just got shattered when the vet explained our dog would only have 4 inch legs. We couldn't return her, and we were already attached to her. Until two weeks went by....

That was March, it is now June. The first two weeks with the puppy were fantastic, then I had trouble finding many things that I hated more than the dog. She bites and barks constantly and is the most dominate dog I have ever seen. But, like I said that was March and its now June, over the weekend we finally started liking the dog again. We took her to my in-laws and what do you know, she is a swimmer. She was practically a fish, loved the water. Two months of hating this animal and seriously considering finding her a new home, one weekend of swimming and she was a better dog, she just wanted to swim.

The older she gets the more we don't know what she is. She is now bigger then a dachshund and really scruffy. She is too small to big a lab/rott mix for sure. I have heard people call her a wiener dog to a terrier. Last week our neighbor walked by us outside and said "Your scotty is a cute dog". What! Now a scotty dog! This has been quite the adventure for our family.

Meet Pegasus (These were taken a month ago)

This was the first day we got her (Taken from my phone)

Still a cute pup.....

And this is her older, this is what she does when we try and walk her... Ridiculous.

We do love her though, she is a part of us now. Pegasus is strange just like any of us, so she fits in. The kids like her because we yell at the dog more than them now. So, we have a man and his wife, a son and a daughter, and a goofy dog with a goofy name. We are an American Family.

 Struggles of a 1yr old

I'm going to end this with my 2 favorite shots.

Megan & Jason, I remember you guys sort of talking about if you were going to have more kids. I think it is your duty, with a child this beautiful, to have more kids. That's my input.
Love you guys and thank you for letting me talk pictures of your gorgeous gal.

{Polar Opposites}

I find it funny how different your children can be. E and La have their similarities but are very different. They are still young so they could drastically change, but since pregnancy they are both very different. Elijah was So easy! I never had morning sickness nor did I have nausea towards anything. I didn't crave any crazy sweets and I always kept my energy. He didn't sit on any awkward organ or loop his elbow under my rib cage. He came on his own (no induction) a week early and my labor was 7 hours. E was a good boy from the get go, until he was born. He cried a lot. There was colic and insane sleeping patterns and he was under weight. Then when 5 months rolled around and he was awesome! Except for his crazy attachment issues with Lee and I. He is shy, and kind of timid with new people or a crowd, but he is getting better.
La was the opposite pregnancy. Though I still didn't have morning sickness or nausea, I craved sweets and was tired all the time (while chasing around a 1yr old). She laid in the most awkward ways which seemed to feel like she was wrapping her toes around my spinal cord (I know that isn't possible). My body always hurt and she was breach up until 36 or 37 weeks. I had to be induced with her a week and a half past my due date. The labor was only 3 hours but it was more painful. La weighed 8lbs 10oz. E only weighed 6lbs 14oz. She was an easy baby though. She ate really well, and was always content. La would let anyone hold her, she wasn't crazy attached. Shyness is not an issue with her, but she has no fear, which is exhausting.

Here is a bit of my little opposites

Unsure

Uh oh

We lost her

And while sister was loosing her cool, brother was keeping his just fine....

 A little much

Wow

My loves are very different, it is so much fun though. They are the best kids the Lord could have given us. Tears or laughs, they are both pretty amazing.
Happy Tuesday!
